These Subscription & Billing Terms govern your purchase and use of mealtally subscription plans. These Terms supplement and are incorporated into our Terms of Service.
1. Subscription Plans
mealtally offers the following subscription plans:

2. Billing Cycles
Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis:
- Monthly subscriptions: Billed every month on the same calendar date you subscribed (or the last day of the month if your signup date doesn't exist in the current month)
- Annual subscriptions: Billed every year on the anniversary of your signup date
The Free plan is not billed.
3. Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the renewal fee automatically.
You will not receive a reminder before your subscription renews. It is your responsibility to manage your subscription and cancel if you do not wish to renew.
4. Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. mealtally does not store your credit card details.
By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Accepted payment methods include:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
- Debit cards
- Other payment methods supported by Stripe (varies by region)
5. Failed Payments
If your payment fails for any reason (insufficient funds, expired card, etc.):
- We will automatically retry the payment up to 3 times over the next 10 days
- You will receive email notifications about the failed payment
- If all retries fail, your subscription will be canceled and your account will be downgraded to the Free plan
You are responsible for maintaining valid payment information. Update your payment method in your dashboard settings or via the Stripe billing portal.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. There are no cancellation fees or penalties.
How to Cancel
- Log in to your dashboard at mealtally.com
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- Click Manage Subscription to open the Stripe billing portal
- Click Cancel Plan
What Happens After Cancellation
- Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
- You retain access to all paid features until the end of the period
- After the period ends, your account is automatically downgraded to the Free plan
- You will not be charged again
- Your meal history and data are retained (see Data Retention Policy)
7. Refund Policy
All subscription sales are final. We do not offer refunds for subscription fees except as required by law or at our sole discretion.
Reasons we do not provide refunds:
- Change of mind
- Failure to cancel before auto-renewal
- Lack of use of the Service
- Dissatisfaction with features or nutrition accuracy
In certain exceptional circumstances, we may consider a prorated refund at our sole discretion. To request a refund, contact billing@mealtally.com.
8. Upgrading and Downgrading
Upgrading
You can upgrade to a higher-tier plan at any time:
- You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period
- Your next billing date remains the same
- You immediately gain access to all features of the new plan
Downgrading
You can downgrade to a lower-tier plan or the Free plan:
- The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period (you keep access to your current plan's features until then)
- No refunds are provided for the unused portion of your current billing period
- On the Free plan, meals beyond the 3/day limit are locked but not deleted
9. Price Changes
We may change subscription prices from time to time. Price changes will not affect your current subscription until your next renewal after the price change.
We will notify you of price changes at least 30 days before they take effect via:
- Email to your registered email address (if provided)
- Notification in your dashboard
- Update to the pricing page
If you do not agree to a price increase, you may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect.
10. Taxes
Subscription prices do not include applicable taxes. You are responsible for paying any taxes, levies, duties, or fees imposed by tax authorities (including sales tax, VAT, GST, etc.) based on your billing address or jurisdiction.
Stripe may automatically calculate and collect applicable taxes on our behalf based on your location.
11. Promotional Offers and Discounts
We may occasionally offer promotional pricing, discounts, or free trial periods. Promotional offers:
- Are subject to specific terms and eligibility requirements
- Cannot be combined with other offers unless explicitly stated
- May be modified or terminated at any time
- Are not transferable or redeemable for cash
After a promotional period or trial ends, you will be automatically charged at the standard subscription rate unless you cancel.
12. Account Termination for Non-Payment
If your subscription payment fails and all retries are exhausted, we may downgrade your account to the Free plan or suspend your access to the Service.
Accounts that violate our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy may be terminated without refund.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Subscription & Billing Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
Your continued use of mealtally after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
