1. Consent to Receive SMS Messages
By providing your phone number to mealtally, you expressly consent to receive automated SMS text messages from mealtally at the phone number you provide. This includes promotional messages, transactional messages, and service-related messages.
Your consent is not a condition of purchase, but is required to use the SMS-based features of the Service.
2. Types of Messages
When you use mealtally, you may receive the following types of SMS messages:
- Meal confirmations: Automated replies confirming your meal was logged and showing parsed nutrition data (if your reply mode is set to "Confirm")
- Daily summaries: Daily nutrition totals sent at your preferred time (if enabled in settings)
- Weekly summaries: Weekly nutrition totals sent on Mondays (if enabled in settings)
- Magic link authentication: One-time login links for accessing the web dashboard
- System notifications: Important service announcements, account alerts, security notifications
- Re-engagement messages: Occasional reminders if you haven't logged a meal in a while
- Streak reminders: Push notifications if you have a logging streak and haven't logged today
- Help and support messages: Responses to
/helpcommands and other informational messages
3. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your usage and preferences:
- Meal confirmations: One message per meal you log (only if "Confirm" reply mode is enabled)
- Daily summaries: Up to one message per day (only if enabled in your settings)
- Weekly summaries: Up to one message per week on Mondays (only if enabled in your settings)
- Re-engagement messages: Occasional messages (typically no more than one every 24-48 hours if you've been inactive)
- Service notifications: Infrequent messages for important account or service updates
You can reduce message frequency by changing your reply mode to "Silent" in your dashboard settings or by disabling summary notifications.
4. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS charges from your mobile carrier will apply to messages sent and received. The number of messages you receive depends on your usage and settings.
mealtally does not charge for SMS messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for text messaging and data usage according to your carrier plan.
5. Supported Carriers
mealtally works with most major U.S. mobile carriers, including:
- AT&T
- Verizon
- T-Mobile
- Sprint
- US Cellular
- Metro PCS
- Boost Mobile
- Cricket Wireless
- And most other carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
6. How to Opt Out (STOP)
You can stop receiving SMS messages from mealtally at any time by texting any of the following keywords to your mealtally number:

After you send a STOP message, you will receive one final confirmation message that you have been unsubscribed from mealtally SMS messages.
7. How to Opt Back In (START)
If you opt out and later want to resume receiving SMS messages from mealtally, text any of the following keywords to your mealtally number:

You will receive a confirmation message that you have been re-subscribed to mealtally SMS messages.
8. How to Get Help (HELP)
For help with mealtally, text HELP or ? to your mealtally number. You will receive an automated response with basic information about the service and links to support resources.

Your phone number and the content of your SMS messages are collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not share your phone number or message content with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy (e.g., with Twilio for SMS delivery, OpenAI for meal parsing).
10. Compliance
mealtally complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), FCC regulations, and industry best practices for SMS messaging. We use Twilio as our SMS provider and maintain proper A2P 10DLC registration.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this SMS Terms & Opt-Out Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
